Caring Together
Caring Together is a carer peer-mentoring program. It is a collaborative initiative of
Northern Mental Health Alliance and ARAFEMI Victoria. The program is run by workers and carers of a relative or friend with a mental health issue.

Caring Together peer support program provides opportunities for carers to talk
to another carer about their needs and get support with finding services
available.

The Suicide Call Back Service
The Suicide Call Back Service is a national telephone counselling service funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing that provides short to medium term support to people at risk of suicide, their carers, and people bereaved by the suicide of a loved one. Recently the Suicide Call Back Service launched a website which provides a range of important information to assist people affected by these issues. Call the referral line on 1300 659 467


Inner South Parents and Friends
Inner South Parents and Friends is a community support group for the families and friends of people with a serious mental illness in the Inner South East region: the Cities of Stonnington, Port Phillip and Glen Eira as well as carers from outside these areas who might be seeking information and support. The group aims to:

- Share experiences
- Gain information on resources for people with a mental illness or psychiatric disability and their carers and circulate this information
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in mental health
- Invite speakers to our meetings from a range of areas relevant to mental health
- Act to protect and promote the interests of people with mental illness and their carers
- Help carers to become better informed so that both they, and those for whom they care, can lead more rewarding lives.

GROW
“GROW - Better Together” is about Carers of people with a mental illness meeting
together weekly to share experiences, gain support, increase their coping skills,
knowledge and understanding through the use of the GROW Program.

GROW - Better Together” meetings last for about 2 hours and consist of an explanation of the project to new members, a Carer’s Personal Story, Reports on Progress, Current Challenges, Education and Skills Development, Forward planning and Group Assessment, followed by refreshments.

All meetings are free, confidential and no referral is required. Group enquiries may be made by contacting 03 95282977 or 1800 558 268.
